Cheddar, Somerset

Cheddar is the town from which the name of Britain’s most famous cheese comes from. You can still watch real cheddar cheese being made. Other old fashioned shops in the town worth a look are the cooper, a potter and a fudge kitchen.

When we visit Cheddar the most impressive part of the tour is the drive through Cheddar Gorge. Beneath the gorge are the Cheddar Caves which you can visit during your free time here, during the tour you’ll be lucky enough to witness the way the underground rivers have eroded the rock to form these chambers, amazing features shaped like organ pipes and waterfalls. Coloured lighting and laser-lights have been installed to highlight magnificent natural rock sculptures
