Queenstown

I really enjoy coming back to Queenstown, the scenery is fantastic, it’s in this area that some of the “Lord of the Rings” films were shot. I normally stay with the groups at the Lakeland’s Hotel, which is just a short walk into the centre of the town and is situated on the edge of Lake Wakatipu.
I am normally here in June, it’s their winter season, and some of the hotels and bars have large log fires burning. There are boat tours to be had on the lake, on the paddle steamer and you can even catch a London Double Deck bus for a tour of the area.

On our last night in Queenstown, we normally meet at the cable car and travel to the ,top of the mountain, known as Bob’s Peak to enjoy a cultural show, the performers usually ask for a member of the group to be the “Chief”, funnily enough, I always seem to be ‘volunteered” for this role by my group, and they perform the famous “Haka”, after the show we take our tables for a Buffet Dinner, there is both hot and cold food available, and as the sun sets, you get great views over the town, surrounding mountains and lake Wakatipu.

It really is “A PEOPLE THING”
