I’ve spent many a New Years Eve with group’s, standing by the side of lakes, or toasting the New Year with a glass of bubbly.

In New York, everybody heads to Times Square. The Crystal Ball drops down and streamers, balloons and party poppers fill the air.

The New Year here is heralded by firework displays over the lake. I’ve watched the display in Riva Del Garda. We also enjoy an evening of eating, drinking and merriment, whilst on New Years day, some of the locals have their traditional New Years Day swim in the Lake, diving off the harbour into the water!

Austria – has its own way of greeting the New Year. Maybe with a candlelit walk to the church for midnight mass, or, if you happen to be in Vienna, the New Years day concert, mind you have to book 3 years in advance for this.
