Eastbourne
Welcome to Eastbourne, with its fascinating history dating back to the Iron Age and its association with its many settlers, Celts, Romans and Saxons. Once again I have been bringing tour groups here since 1989 to enjoy the town and the countryside on its doorstep.
In 1066 the Normans landed near Pevensey and killed King Harold in the Battle of Hastings.
During the many tours I have taken to this town and its surrounding area, it seems to get more visitors each time I return.
In 1903 Eastbourne became the first town in the world to have a public bus company. The main attractions we visit are the famous downs, its beaches and of course its pier. Other attractions include the promenade and the stunning gardens and flower beds. Just along the coast a little way is the famous “Beachy head”, the views from here looking back towards Eastbourne are fantastic.
